Project Manager (Construction Engineering)

A well-established engineering firm in New York City is seeking an experienced Project Manager – Structural Engineering to lead construction engineering projects supporting major infrastructure development. This role offers the opportunity to manage a team, coordinate complex designs, and work closely with contractor clients to bring large-scale projects to life.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and direct staff in the preparation of construction drawings and specifications.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring seamless project coordination.

  • Lead client meetings and provide technical expertise on project execution.

  • Review shop drawings and ensure compliance with engineering standards.

  • Conduct field inspections and provide on-site construction support.

  • Assist with heavy lift planning, rigging design, temporary shoring, bridge load rating, demolition engineering, and construction sequencing.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering.

  • Minimum 10 years of structural engineering experience (New York or New Jersey preferred).

  • Construction industry experience is highly valued.

  • Expertise in construction engineering (heavy lift planning, rigging, bridge load rating, etc.).

  • PE license (preferred in NY or NJ).

  • Experience coordinating with public agencies (NJDOT, NJTP, NJTransit, PANYNJ, NYSDOT, NYCDOT, TBTA) is a plus.

  • Proficiency in LARSA and other finite element design software.

  • Skilled in MicroStation and/or AutoCAD (Revit proficiency is a plus).

  • Strong knowledge of industry codes (AASHTO, AISC, ACI, AREMA, IBC).

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills to manage projects and teams effectively.
