A multi-office civil engineering firm is hiring a Highway Project Manager in Newark to lead complex transportation and traffic improvement projects. You'll work on highway reconstruction, safety upgrades, intersection design, and pedestrian trail planning for state and local agencies across the region.
This role is ideal for a New Jersey PE with at least 7 years of experience in highway design, traffic engineering, and transportation project management. You'll lead multi-disciplinary teams, support business development efforts, and guide clients through every stage of the project lifestyle.
What You'll Be Doing
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on transportation infrastructure and highway engineering projects
- Independently manage project assignments, ensuring compliance with schedules and quality standards
- Oversee and delegate work to junior engineers and technical staff to support civil engineering project goals
- Prepare design documents for diverse transportation improvement projects using industry-standard software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicoStation Software
- Engage regularly with clients to maintain strong communication and align project deliverables with expectations
- Monitor and control project budgets, staffing, and timelines to optimize transportation project execution
- Provide construction support and field coordination during transportation and highway project implementation
- Partner with regional and department management to support proposals, business development, and client growth stategies
What You'll Need
- PE license required
- 7+ years of civil engineering experience focused on highway design, traffic engineering, or roadway improvement projects
- Familiarity with NJDOT or PennDOT design standards
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicroStation
- Experience with public infrastructure projects, including municipal and DOT work
- Knowledge of transportation planning and traffic safety principles
- Ability to lead transportation engineering teams and coordinate cross-discipline collaboration
