A leading engineering consultancy is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer with 4 to 8 years of experience to join its growing team in New York City. This role offers a dynamic, collaborative environment working on a mix of public and private sector projects. Ideal candidates will bring strong technical analysis skills, solid report writing ability, and experience mentoring junior engineers.
Key Responsibilities:

Develop scopes of work for inclusion in project proposals and client bids

Conduct and review geotechnical design analyses including:

Allowable bearing pressures
-
Settlement and consolidation
-
Deep foundations
-
Seismic site-specific response
-
Slope stability and seepage
-
Support of excavation (SOE) systems

Manage and review the work of junior staff during subsurface investigations and design analysis

Prepare detailed geotechnical reports aligned with NYC Building Code and IBC standards

Provide special inspections for deep foundation installation, underpinning, SOE systems, subgrade prep, controlled fill, and in-place density testing
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s with Geotechnical focus preferred)

NYS Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within 6 months

Proficiency in AutoCAD required

Familiarity with geotechnical software such as Slide, LPile, APile, DeepEX, PLAXIS, WEAP, and CivilTech tools is a strong plus

OSHA 10, 30, or 40-hour certification is advantageous

Strong communication, report writing, and analytical skills
