Construction Estimator

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Construction Estimator to join our preconstruction team. The Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for ground-up commercial projects. This role requires strong analytical skills, construction knowledge, and the ability to work closely with project teams, subcontractors, and clients.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Analysis:

    • Review architectural, structural, civil, and MEP drawings and specifications to understand the full scope of work.

    • Perform quantity take-offs and develop detailed cost estimates for all CSI divisions.

  • Bid Preparation:

    • Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids.

    • Prepare complete bid proposals, including pricing, qualifications, clarifications, and schedules.

  • Cost Estimating:

    • Develop conceptual and schematic estimates during early project phases.

    • Analyze historical cost data and market trends to forecast construction costs accurately.

    • Identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering options.

  • Collaboration:

    • Work closely with project managers, superintendents, architects, and engineers during the preconstruction phase.

    • Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and design reviews as needed.

  • Risk Management:

    • Identify project risks and incorporate appropriate contingencies into estimates.

    • Track and manage changes in project scope and update cost projections accordingly.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of estimating experience in commercial construction, with a focus on ground-up projects.

  • Proficient in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, ProEst, PlanSwift, Sage Estimating) and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Strong understanding of construction means, methods, and materials.

  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.

  • Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.

  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working for a general contractor on ground-up commercial projects valued between $1M–$50M.

  • Familiarity with LEED, sustainable building practices, and local building codes.

  • Knowledge of BIM, Procore, or other project management tools.
